About Me
Graphic Designer. Writer. Ceramicist.
My background is a winding, though purposeful, one. I moved to NYC in 2016, after several years working in various roles for a local media publishing group and graduating cum laude from The Ohio State University (B.A. in English and Visual Communications). It was in NYC where I mentored with a slip-cast artist and chef, whom graciously welcomed me into the immersive world of ceramic arts. The turbulent nature of 2020 eventually brought me back to my midwestern roots and brought about a career pivot. I've since pursued learning the various, immersive online and tactile tools of graphic design while simultaneously co-managing a non-profit art studio's ceramics department. In 2024, I'll complete RISD's graphic design certificate program.
Within this program, I developed and sharpened skills pertaining to print design (magazine, poster, book), design for web, typography, logo and brand identity, type and image, and package design. I gained problem-solving skills by conceptualizing, planning and executing designs which convey a message. I learned to apply color theory and its applications and mechanics in practice, using hue, value and intensity, line, shape, value, texture, figure/ground relationships, repetition, contrast, rhythm, and transformation to affect users in intentional ways. I gained a fundamental understanding of various aspects of typography in order to compose single- and multi-page documents, page systems and using type styles to influence expression and communication.
Always curious, I'm now eagerly combining my knowledge from all these past creative endeavors into my graphic design work. Please have a look around.
